Thank you for attending Extended Senses!
Last Sunday, the lucky number seven in our Coded Matter(s) series proved to be just that; with pride we are looking back on another great edition. Returning to the scene of our first two instalments, Coded Matter(s) #7: Extended Senses was our largest and most varied programme yet, with keynotes, a performance, installations, film and more stretched out across De Brakke Grond.
Throughout the day an interested and engaged audience enjoyed the talks, Q&As and performance, nice weather and music outside and the various challenging and intriguing elements of the exhibition. Adriaan Wormgoor’s EMG Muscle Game brought out a bit of competitive spirit in those eager to flex their muscles (rematches coming soon!) and we have had and overheard many interesting conversations in the hallways.
Many possibilities and opportunities enabled by new sensor technology and (open source) software were displayed and discussed, but we were very glad to hear many of the participating artists and researchers were also actively aware and occupied with the risks and dangers of the dangers and risks of these developments. We’re pleased to provide a platform for discussion and thought about how we can be mindful of our progression as a species on this new frontier and hope everyone who attended felt stimulated to engage with these issues as well.
Both FIBER and De Brakke Grond would like to thank everyone for attending and making this possible!
As always, a set of photos and an in-depth recap are coming soon, as well as another event video by Tanja Busking. For now, we’re taking a small summer break, but we’ll be back with more great programmes. Subscribe to our newsletter, enjoy your summer and we’ll see you soon!
P.S. Did you like those visuals we used for this edition’s identity? Keep an eye out for the release of the app by Josué Ibanez from Hotpixel (with audio design by Eduardo Jiménez) later this week.
