In Focus: Michiel de Lange
To provide us with an introductory talk at the first instalment of Coded Matter(s), we present to you: Michiel de Lange. He is a part-time Lecturer in New Media Studies at Utrecht University, and a researcher and adviser of new media and urbanism. He is also the co-founder of The Mobile City, a platform for the study of new media and urbanism. Besides being a trained cultural anthropologist, he furthermore holds a PhD in Philosophy with a dissertation about mobile media technologies and urban identities.
In his introduction, he will use his expertise to introduce the theme of the night, talking about the hybrid city that surrounds us, and how it uses and is shaped by digital processes and code. From this bird’s eye view he will swoop down to the personal level of the creation and experience of a space, leading us to the other talks and performances of the night.
We’re very glad to have him and are looking forward to his introduction next week Tuesday Coded Matter(s) #1: Unfolding Space.
