First Coded Matter(s) #2 names announced! (and a BYOB reminder)
Tonight: BYOB!
Before we dive into the announcement, we’d like to remind everyone that tonight’s the night of BYOB (Bring Your Own Beamer). This special edition will take place in the city center of Amsterdam. To be precise: IN/OUTdoor on various locations at the Nes. Imagine alleyways, bikes, rooftops, through windows, onto steam, with sound and interacting with the audience. A digital gallery where the sky is literally the limit. Entrance is totally free and everyone is invited. It starts around 19:00, so head on down after dinner for some visual goodness. For more info, check the website and Facebook event.
See you tonight!

First Coded Matter(s) #2 names announced!
With the first edition of Coded Matter(s) still fresh in our minds, we’re moving on towards the second instalment: Coded Matter(s) #2: Sound Hackers. We sent out our first press release this week and are very proud to present some first names. Please note that this is not the full line-up, more names will be announced in the coming weeks!
Once more collaborating with Flemish Arts Centre de Brakke Grond, we will present the second edition of Coded Matter(s) on 10/11. During this Sunday afternoon matinee we’ll experience the rising possibilities and new expressions in sound and music due to emerging technologies and code. The afternoon will be filled with a talk and various performances by artists like audio-visual performer Paul Prudence, Soundlings and Pieter Jan Pieters (OWOW). Everyone with an interested in sound & music is cordially invited!
Paul Prudence (UK)
Paul Prudence is an audio-visual performer and live-cinema artist working with computational, algorithmic and generative environments. His work, which had been shown and performed internationally, focuses on the ways in which sound, space and form can be cross-wired to create live-cinematic visual-music experiences. Paul is known for his complex time-based geometric narratives which are precisely synchronised to electroacoustic sound design and sound art compositions.
OWOW (BE / NL)
OWOW (theomnipresentworldofwizkids), focusses on superior design, technology & engineering paired with a lot of fun. At Sound Hackers, Pieter Jan Pieters (founder of OWOW) will be presenting his graduation project from Design Academy Eindhoven, named Sound On Intuition, a project consisting of five instruments that translate movement into sound. Check out the video on the right for an impression.
Soundlings (INTL.)
The Soundlings Collective is a young and international network of starting audio professionals. They have worked on a variety of projects, initiated events, shared knowledge and promoted the sonic perspective in the cultural landscape. For Coded Matter(s) #2, they’ll be doing a special performance including a soon to be announced guest musician. We’ll give you a hint: code & code & clarinet.
We’re very excited about our line-up and hope you are too. If you want to be a really early bird: tickets are already available. Last edition sold out, so if you want to witness all this auditive excitement it can’t hurt to plan ahead a little…
