Doron Sadja [US]
Audiovisual performance with Nenad PopovDoron Sadja is an American artist, composer, and curator whose work explores modes of perception and the experience of sound, light, and space. Working primarily with multichannel spatialized sound – combining pristine electronics with lush romantic synthesizers, extreme frequencies, dense noise, and computer-enhanced acoustic instruments, Sadja creates post-human, hyper-emotive sonic architecture. He has performed at PS1 MoMa, EMS Stockholm, Issue Project Room and Steim Amsterdam. Sadja currently lives in Berlin.
For Cinematic Specimens audiovisual artists Nenad Popov and Doron Sadja come together for this special collaborative performance called Flicker&Glitter. Using custom built software instruments and controllers, the duo investigates sensory perception through sound and image. Popov’s vivid black and white imagery explores the simple interaction of pixels repeated thousands of times, allowing Escheresque tilings to emerge, dancing on the fringe between dimensions. Similarly, Sadja’s dense electronic sounds play with the extreme layering and spatialization of samples, resulting in rich, endlessly morphing textures installations, film installations, weird sound making contraptions and creative coding.
Dutch premiere. This performance was first presented at SPEKTRUM (Berlin)
